Introduction

she's my little skrunkly scrimblo. there's gonna be a lot of writing in here.

 name iviani
 aliases stupid bitch idiot
 age 22 (endwalker)
 gender transfemme (she/her)
 orientation poly sapphic
occupation black mage, reaper, ninja, dark knight/warrior hybrid, alchemist, problem

appearance

 height 4'10 with prosthesis
 hair black, wavy, ass length
 eyes purple, not very reflective
species void-touched miqo'te keeper of the moon
specific features she is missing both feet. both of her legs are blackened and crystalized from void exposure. her left arm is a deep black, also from void exposure.

iviani is a keeper of the moon with a vile disposition. she tends to speak little, and rudely when she does. she's not all bad, though. her actions occasionally say the opposite of what her words might, giving support to friends when in need, though, in her own, particular way.her eyes don't seem to reflect much light, which can make her seem off-putting even when she isn't making a sour face. those who can see aether would be able to identify that there is very little aether in her blackened left arm. even more curiously, however, there is a blot of particularly thin aether in her chest, as well. given her sharp tongue, it would be ill-advised to ask... though probably a little funny.

background

iviani korika is a thavnarian miqo'te woman. as a child, she was very quiet and didn't really do anything without being told to, and only spoke when spoken to. her parents were merchants, but preferred to travel without her. they'd leave her with the alchemists of the great work, who cared for her greatly. she had three friends, though they were all older than her by a considerable amount. particularly, one of those friends was an adult man, named dusk. he would teach her thaumaturgy. she thought it was fun.during one of those times when her parents were away, iviani was tricked by dusk, who turned out to be a voidsent using a dead man as a vessel, and he dragged her into the void. a powerful voidsent, lilith, to whom dusk was subservient, then attempted to consume her. she fell unconscious as lilith absorbed her aether. dusk experienced a sudden change of heart, scooped iviani up, and got out of there. he dumped her into the alchemists' care, then fled. iviani's legs were partly absorbed, and further damaged by the corruptive nature of the void, causing them to crystallize. when her parents learned of what happened to her, they scolded the alchemists for not watching over her well enough, and took her with them on their next trip to eorzea.while in ul'dah, she was introduced to their alchemists, and they were impressed by her knowledge for her age. she told them some bits about thavnarian alchemy, and in exchange they taught her some basic thaumaturgy, which she expressed interest in. she didn't mention that she was already taught a lot of this. her parents encouraged them to teach her more, and they were impressed by how quickly she picked it up. the time came to leave ul'dah, and they made for gridania. iviani tried to entertain with her thaumaturgy, and the gridanian locals were a lot less amused by it than the ul'dahns. she caused a small commotion, and one of the padjals - e-sumi yan - sensed that she was void-touched. he directed the crowd to disperse, and politely informed iviani and her parents that they should probably leave. while they were making preparations to leave the shroud, they were attacked, and iviani was abandoned by her parents, injured, and fell unconscious. she awoke in the care of pawah mujuuk, leader of a gang of poachers in the shroud. she was questioned, but iviani remained completely silent, not telling her even something so simple as her name. pawah explained to the mute miqo'te that she's not a charity, and said she'd keep her warm and fed if she proved herself useful, and taught her how to hunt. iviani pleasantly surprised her by using thaumaturgy to hunt extremely effectively. she lived with the poachers for about a year, but once they found out she was void-touched, they disowned her too.having learned to hunt, she fended for herself for several years. she developed a strong hatred for the shroud and everyone in it. having been branded as some kind of demon or witch repeatedly wasnt great for the psyche. when the calamity struck, she was mad that only the western shroud was wiped off the map. she'd give a lot to see gridania burn- even setting fire to their woods sometimes. watching the fire consume the foliage was cathartic, and it was easy to escape the padjals who came to put the fires out, since they were more worried about stopping the fires themselves.her echo manifests in an ability to both see and feel souls, though focus is required to see them. she associates everyone with the color of their soul. the feeling of souls is difficult to describe and varies quite a lot from person to person. she can essentially sense people's presences, which makes her very difficult to sneak up on. she can tell if someone's been possessed as well, since everyone's souls have unique properties. her echo visions are the less common manifestation, showing her the future rather than pasts. she often has prophetic dreams, and they're not usually pleasant. she avoids sleep because of this.

in loving memory

"'emkh zambaraagui baidal' always was a little bit of a mouthful, so she would tell most to simply call her emkh. emkh, on its own, doesn't actually mean a thing, but sayana was very adamant that she wanted to name her first born after the concept of chaos- coming from the steppe superstition that naming one's child something negative would lead any malevolent forces not to lay a curse upon the child, believing them to have already been cursed. This... clearly did not work on our dearest emkh. I would go so far as to say it may have backfired. She was a force of chaos herself, more oft than not; direly restless and vivacious to a fault.she was a sanguine and sociable young woman who was very skilled at making new acquantances, but had a tendency to get easily distracted by her surrounds. she could start talking your ears off about something so simple as the constellations in the sky, and you won't even realize the bell's slipped through your fingers until you hear it ring. the wonder and delight she could find in the world around her at any given moment... it was always the quality of hers that i found the most admirable. she always knew how to make the best of a bad situation. it was a regular occurance for her to help raise not only my own spirits, but everyone to whom she spoke.and the wanderlust. oh, the wanderlust. the girl could hardly sit home for a day without my supervision. while i was away for work, she would sneak away up into the coerthan highlands at least a dozen times a moon. eventually i stopped getting the linkpearl calls telling me my child showed up at your house, vesper, malms away, such a regular occurrance it had become. then i'd have to walk my sorry ass up there as well, just to guide her back home safely. not that i truly minded, all that much. in hindsight, i'm... grateful. i'm grateful for the bond that she helped to deepen between myself and your parents. and yourself, too. she missed you so, after we stopped coming to visit as often, you know. that was the whole reason she would flee without permission. sul, you wanted to share something?"

'she would take me on adventures, too. it was fun. it was the most fun i ever had, every time. she didn't start taking me with her until she knew your schedule well. for all the times you caught us out, we eluded you ten times. she took me to see the rivers in coerthas once. to watch the sun set from high on the mountains. vesper, too. it was beautiful. i'm grateful i got to share that with you. the both of you. thank you, vesper. i... i promised her not to tell you this, father, but she... won't be mad at me for telling you. Not anymore, i think. she was practicing conjury. that would be the majority of our adventures. we'd wander into the woods and she'd practice casting stones and gusts of wind at the vilekin outside the city. she could hardly aim, but it was magic nonetheless. i tried to learn it, too, but i was no good at it. she wanted to learn to help you two. that was why she did it. before she left, she said it was her chance to finally make a difference... i am certain she did. i am grateful for that.'

"... I see. I suppose i should have placed more faith in her, then. ahah... thank you for sharing that. thank you. i... augh. pull it together, arsene. she would be loathe to see us in such a state. we all just... have to keep trying. for her sake. right? I know she would have it no other way..."

what is left

the calamity was her end. emkh grew restless as dalamud sank lower and lower into the west shroud, and once the primal emerged, she could no longer bear to sit idly by and await her loved ones' return. thus did she rush headlong into the battlefield, desperately searching for either vesper or her father. both, ideally. she located a severely wounded vesper, bleeding profusely from the arm. she used her hair ribbon to tie around their arm, slowing the blood loss while she used what little conjury she had practiced to heal them. she tended to them with the few basic medical supplies she had scooped up before leaving the house, and once they were in a state in which they could walk, she helped to escourt them back home. it was then that she was struck with shrapnel from the shattered moon and explosive magicks. perfectly fine one second, broken and bleeding the next. as darkness encroached upon her vision, she could hear vesper begging her not to leave them. pleading. praying. though she knew herself to be in their arms, she could not feel them. she promised she would not leave their side. she promised and promised. there was nothing more she wanted than to stay with them forever. she succumbed to her wounds before vesper could even attempt to tend to her.she watched vesper carry her lifeless body back home. she watched them struggle to explain to arsene what had happened. she watched as the news broke his heart. as it rent sul's world apart. as it buried vesper's in darkness. she tried- she tried her damnedest to tell them that she was still there, that she had not broken her promise, but no matter how hard she screamed, they could hear naught but their own stifled sobs. she watched her own funeral. she watched her loved ones grieve. through it all, she was unable to comfort them. "i'm so sorry. i'm so, so sorry, to all of you," she repeats, and repeats, and repeats, to an audience that cannot hear her.she follows them, even now, a whole five years since she watched those dreadful scenes, all burnt into her memory now. by some stroke of luck, she managed to find someone who could actually see her. then someone else who could even hear her. it seems that those who possess the echo are able to interact with her, in some fashion, though not all of them can. she's quite glad to have people to talk to once more, but she evades the topics of both her life and death when speaking to them. it would likely not go over so well if some stranger were to suddenly turn up at home and announce that they've befriended this ghost.

specific features purple scales marks on scales and horns, elezen ears in addition to xaela horns, mechanical left arm, mechanical tail with scarlet lights in it.

sul is a curious individual by nature, the type to want to learn what makes everything tick. the shroud has begun to bore them every bit as much as it infuriates them, so they've taken it upon themself to become an adventurer, their sickly nature and smothering father be damned. while her inability to verbally communicate poses some problems, she's always carrying a pad and pen for the many, many people who don't understand sign.

background

the younger child of the l'aprennant family, sul was ill for most of their childhood, as was their mother, sayana, at the time. she had passed when sul was only a child, so he doesn't remember her all that well. most of their childhood memories were of wandering off with their sister, emkh. those memories are very dear to them, particularly because they were rarely permitted to leave the house due to their tendency to become ill afterward. their big sister's significant other, vesper, is also very dear to them. she would take them to visit vesper, as well as vice-versa, regularly. they recall father introducing them to another child who was unable to speak aloud, like them, but one day that friend just... disappeared. they never found out what happened to her.then the calamity struck. father insisted on defending the shroud from the garlean invaders, despite all the ways it had wronged them. they remember the way the sky burned an unnatural red that day, as if the world was ending. they recall the lesser moon descending, further and further. they recall emkh saying something about oh-so direly wanting to go and help- to intervene- to finally make a difference. they recall trying to stop her, but she was insistent, and strong enough to slip out of their grasp to leave. they recall being horrified, watching dalamud shatter like glass, and the dragon contained within razing the land. they recall... a voice.that was the last time they ever got the chance to speak to emkh. the loss of her sister destroyed her- but it destroyed vesper and father just as much. they recognized this much, and did what they could to comfort them both. father grew paranoid over sul's safety, so she stayed home all day, for moons, tinkering with destroyed magitek as their only distraction, save for vesper's increasingly sparse visits. she was glad they continued to visit at all, but still finds himself wondering if they consider him a friend. she came to fancy herself an electrician of sorts, dissecting the broken machinery and studying its inner workings. noting her fascination with the stuff, father would often turn up in the dead of night with more scrapmetal for her to craft with. she grew a particular fixation on the red lights contained in much of their technology, and fashioned it into her prosthetic tail- something which she often customized.over time, the restlessness became untenable as their father continued to smother them. the old man's overprotective habits were something which she simultaneously understood, as well as detested. while she did sympathize with his desire to keep her safe after what happened to his friends, wife, and now daughter- doubly so considering her tendency to fall ill, he was also of the opinion that, had his elder sister been properly trained to handle herself in emergency situations, she may yet be here. with that in mind, they resent him for not allowing them to learn to fend for themself. it was for this reason that he grew deeply envious, more and more over time, as his father taught vesper to become a stronger and stronger dark knight.

present

they wanted to be like them. strong. able to protect their loved ones- not the one in need of protection. in pursuit of this endeavor, she tried to take after emkh, running off while no one was around and practicing conjury. she remained subpar at it at best, despite moons of effort. the thought of entering gridania by herself to ask that padjal of all people to teach them made them sick to their stomach. reaching the age of twenty summers- the same as dear emkh was at the time of her passing- made something snap within them. they decided they must leave home- they must learn to fight, they must explore, see the star's sights, live, instead of surviving the way they had been all these years.they managed to sneak their way onto a supply ship bound for limsa lominsa- all without informing a soul. limsa's very strict policies regarding stowaways resulted in he and the ship's crew being immediately detained by the yellowjackets. to all of their surprise, a smoke bomb suddenly went off, and everyone's boots were frozen to the dock's boards, save sul's. a strange girl with long, curly black locks signed to him, 'i'll help you. trust me.' confused, they thought two things: number one, this girl seemed familiar, and two, she must be acquainted, since she knew to speak sign to them. she grabbed him by the hand and led him to what he soon learned to be a place called the rogue's guild.while he struggled to familiarize himself with the individuals operating the guild, the girl explained the situation to her guildmates, but not so much to sul, leaving him confused. these people seemed trustworthy, at the very least... right? a knock eventually came at the door, and the curly-haired girl, named iviani, answered it, holding the door mostly closed the whole time. sul heard a familiar voice outside- vesper's. dread took the form of bile in her throat. how did they already find her? vesper eventually forced their way inside, but were thankfully much more amicable than he anticipated, given the tone they took with iviani at the door. where they were relieved to find him, he despaired over being found— that was, at least, until he got distracted talking about magitek with a friendly gent named gin'zah, who understood sign as well.gin'zah and vesper bought them some time before father came to pick them up, giving sul a chance to become more familiar with the rogues guild members. she wanted to join them- their morals seemed agreeable, and wielding something as light as knives seemed doable for her. the return home with father and vesper was... tense. father was drunk. they felt terrible for making him so distraught. it was not the first time, but this was the worst he'd seemed since emkh's passing. limsa being a port town lead to him falling ill again, as it contained many sorts of germs which his deeply sheltered immune system had never before encountered. father seemed especially worried about her this time, but being stuck at home, waiting to get better, after a taste of freedom... it made them covet a return to the rogues. he swore to do so the moment he recovered.

 age 50ish idk yet
 gender male (he/him)
 orientation misses his wife, tails
 occupation dark knight sellsword, metalsmith
 height 6'5"
 hair straight, brown, shoulder length
 eyes pink
 species duskwight elezen
specific features blind in one eye with a scar extending from the forehead to the cheek across said eye. pupil has gone white. another scar across the cheek and nose, then a third on the chin far to the left, usually hidden by his hair.

while sociable and connected to many, arsene remains distant from all- or, almost all. what little remains of his family, he holds suffocatingly close to his chest. this does leave tension running a bit high in the home. thankfully, his line of work sees him out and about for long hours during the day, which allieviates at least some of that pressure. one of few skilled smiths in the black shroud, arsene fashions weapons, armor, and miscellanious tools that he then shares with his numerous fellow misfortunates, such as the coeurlclaws and ala mhigan refugees. he sources his materials via demolished and abandoned magitek machinery left in the west shroud following the calamity.

background

arsene tried his fucking damnedest to be an exemplary gridanian citizen. he was a woodwailer and did his best to play by the rules and all. eventually he met sayana, his future wife and mother of emkh and sul. she'd recently moved to eorzea from the far east in the company of a hingan friend of hers, fleeing conflict. a while after they moved here, sayana fell deeply ill because of her immune system's lack of preparation to deal with eorzea's ailments. in predictable gridanian maliciousness, arsene's request for medicine and treatment was denied for the simple reason of "you are a duskwight, and your wife is a demonic looking outsider. the elementals mistrust you both and advise against our intervention." after that, sayana's hingan friend and her coerthan significant other heard what happened, and offered to attempt to collect the medicine and treat sayana on their own. infuriated that he was denied assistance despite his years of work for the wailers, arsene cast aside his lance and took up the sword, operating on his own to collect funds for the two taking care of his wife. sayana managed to survive because of this, but was left very weak and sickly due to the severity of her infection. she passed a few years later. sul, the younger of the two children, doesn't really remember her much. arsene remained loyal to those friends who helped them in their time of need regardless, until they met an untimely end as well. he took it upon himself to do what he could for those late friends' child, vesper. he's the one who taught them the ways of the dark knight.he's very overprotective of his children, never teaching either of them to fight. he'd tell them that he was teaching vesper, yet not them, because they were a few years older, but that lie didn't fool anyone. his desire to protect all of them, and their home, despite its flaws, is what compelled him to participate in the battle at cartineau— along with vesper. when the lesser moon first burst open, emkh, his elder daughter, couldn't bare to simply await their return any longer. she collected what medical supplies were available and rushed headlong into the fray. she managed to find an injured vesper, and tended to their wounds before being struck dead by one of the many falling projectiles. vesper would be the one to carry her remains back to her father.after losing yet another loved one, arsene became even more overprotective of sul. they mislike this quality of his, and resent their sister for doing something so stupid, even if she mightve saved vesper.

her life

coda was a lowborn just before the contramemoria, always emotionally detached and distant, lacking much in regards to personality. she was fortunate enough to have made an acquaintance known only as Dusk, a remarkable mage, whom gave her a massive head start in learning the craft. this was doubly fortunate, as coda possessed a frail, weak heart, which prevented her from exerting herself without risk to her health. becoming a mage rather than a physically inclined fighter was the obvious solution. she excelled particularly with destructive magicks, as her soul was so inclined toward darkness as to be considered imbalanced. such a thing was becoming more common by the moon, as the war against the eidolons grew ever more grim. eventually, she set her destructive magicks upon the eidolons herself, earning her some respect from a handful of highborns, notably one by the name of fina, who coda found herself feeling a sense of warmth around that was entirely alien to her at the time. seeking to study this sensation, she spent all free time she could acquire with fina.a curious affliction of coda's came in the form of inexplicable visions. most often, they would come to her in her sleep, usually in the form of nightmares. after one of her nightmares proved to become true the following day, she grew convinced that these visions of hers were prophetic; visions of the future, warning her of traumatic events. a particular pair of visions plagued her regularly. the first, an entirely unfamiliar, large city, with tall buildings filled with people who only wore the same black or white robes with plain masks, and skies lit up by falling stars, as chaos consumed all. in the dream, she was a mage bearing dual swords, combating a large beast with hungering mouths and gnashing teeth lining its long sides. it always ends the same: a building starts to collapse, and she uses earth magicks to prevent its fall while civilians escape, and then the beast stabs her through the chest, causing the building to fall and crush her, prompting her to wake up. the second dream consisted of the world being cleft into pieces by an unknowable potent wave of darkness.when coda had a vision of the eidolons threatening to destroy fina's home, she took it upon herself to attempt to put a permanent end to this war, filled with determination to protect her idol. igeyorhm, a fellow mage under the same house as fina, guided coda to the conception of the memoria crystal. however, not long thereafter, the condition of her already weak heart had worsened, rendering her bedridden and unable to utilize this new method of eidolon destruction.one fateful evening, she informed igeyorhm of the vision she had of an eidolon destroying this place. igeyorhm inquired further, asking what other sorts of prophetic visions coda may have had. after she elaborated, igeyorhm presented her with a unique memoria crystal- one known as the heart of sabik. igeyorhm explained that the worsening condition of coda's heart may be because of her soul, and that being reunited with her soul's heart may yet save her. igeyorhm explained something revolutionary to coda, describing the true nature of the star, and the reason for the ceaseless war with the eidolons. she told her that coda's weak heart was because of a condition suffered by the one whom she is a shard of, known as lilith. confused but fascinated, coda emphatically agreed, and the heart of sabik was embedded in her chest, imbuing itself into her heart. the process left her unconscious, experiencing yet more strange visions of that unfamiliar city. what she saw did not explain everything, but she considered herself enlightened.unfortunately, by the time she awoke from her visions, the prediction she had of the eidolon that would destroy fina's home had come true. igeyorhm managed to bring both coda and fina to safety in the meantime, but the damage was done, and the entire town was left in shambles. however, coda was filled with a sense of determination the likes of which she had never known. she recalled who she was: lilith, the executioner. now going by this name, her manic ravings seemed to frighten her beloved fina, but it did not matter. she recalls that someone from lilith's- her- visions bore an identical soul color as fina's, and concluded that the reason fina made her feel this warmth was also due to a latent memory of lilith's. she took it upon herself to further igeyorhm's agenda, being misled about the consequences. per her suggestion, lilith proudly declared that she was rejuvenated by imbuing herself with a memoria crystal, and that other memoriates could draw upon the crystals' aether to enhance themselves. this saw the spread of darkness intensify greatly, as men began transforming into beasts from indulging upon the darkness.lilith now believed the only way to restore peace to not only this star, but all of the reflections, would be to further the ascians' agenda and see through the rejoining of all shards. after helping golbez destroy the watcher to bring about the thirteenth's rejoining, that recurring vision of hers finally came to fruition. the thirteenth was irreparably consumed by darkness when the dark-aspected aether erupting from the moon had nowhere to go. the ascians dubbed the thirteenth a lost cause and abandoned her there entirely as she transformed into a beast, as had the rest of the star's inhabitants.

her endeavor

while the other ascian's had given up on her, that would not be the end of her burning wish to become whole. while she knew better than to try to conspire an entire rejoining on her own, she plotted to find a way to systematically find and consume her own soul from the other thirteen shards- her ability to see soul colors being a great boon in this endeavor. while dusk made inter-planar travel trivial, she still had one particular hurdle to leap over: the original lilith's heart was damaged, and therefore all of her reflections experience the same ailment. as a solution, she began manipulating individual bloodlines, making mortals pair with her servant voidsent, or simply pairing those who happen to have a dark aetheric inclination together, to mimic the circumstances of her own birth. these children of lilith would be dubbed lilim, though they remained entirely unaware of her meddling until the moment would come to strike- when she could find another fragment of her soul finally incarnate. these mortals, frail of heart, had a tendency to perish before she could so much as consume them, their souls returning to the lifestream. her solution to this was to absorb them first into the heart of sabik, still embedded in her chest, which would stabilize the aether before it could dissipate.all the while, she refused to partake of the void's new culture of consumption. she had no interest in sullying her soul with that of anothers, and only ever sought to consume the pieces of herself from other shards. rather than seeking new power through eating other demons, she would instead further her magecraft with dusk, as she had always done. the pair denying to consume other souls led to lilith's domain being treated as a sanctum for the meek. those which were less corroded by the void would be sent to other reflections to produce more lilim.she continued this rinse and repeat process several times, and she, dusk, and fina, now known as algol, observed the ascians rejoinings correctly function and return to the source. she considered their work to contribute to hers, regardless of whether they knew it or not. she would be the first to reclaim all of the shards of her soul, restoring herself to the proper state of lilith, and mock them for abandoning the void before finding a way to rejoin the rest of it herself, even if it means individually pairing each demon with their counterpart on the source. progress was slow going, but smooth, all things considered- until this great work of hers would be impeded yet again, however, due to an unexpected visit from the ascians igeyorhm and lahabrea. the pair struck her unawares while she was in her domain on the thirteenth, and gouged the heart of sabik from her chest before vanishing, presumably planning to use it for themselves to some nefarious ends. this was especially frustrating to lilith, as at the time, the only three reflections which yet contained her unclaimed soul fragments were the first, the seventh, and the source.while tracking the heart of sabik itself down proved to be too difficult, she concluded that it would be perfectly serviceable to find a replacement crystal to utilize. the crystal, known as auracite, was exceedingly rare and difficult to acquire. eventually, dusk had located one on the source, as well as the lilim which contained lilith's soul. she was especially excited to consume this one; the source had undergone six rejoinings, which was currently more than even lilith had acquired. to claim her reflection from the source would more than double her soul's density. however, while preparations were being made regarding the stone, dusk, for reasons beyond her, grew emotionally attached to the child on the source which she was meant to consume. after bringing her both the crystal and the boy, dusk experienced a sudden change of heart, feeling pity watching the child's dying breath. he stole away the child and stone both, and returned to the source, double-crossing lilith. this breech of trust affected her deeply, and she was filled with hatred, rage, and confusion in equal parts. the pair had been working together for over 10,000 years- how could he possibly betray her now? imbecile!lilith sought to further her endeavor more independently this time, heading directly to the source herself shortly after yet another rejoining had occurred. by a stroke of luck, it was one of the shards which contained a soul she had yet to reclaim- the seventh. she sought to track down the stone first, as it had partly absorbed the child. while she was very swift in her locating it, the next step... didn't go as well. the individual who possessed the auracite was a mage practicing the thought-dead mhachi art of occultism, designed specifically for beguiling and ensnaring voidsent. she was immobilized by the occultist, then imprisoned in a coffin, which was cast into the depths of witchdrop, where she remained for some, five years...

for those five years which lilith remained trapped in that coffin, she continued to scheme, manipulating yet further some of the many bloodlines which she had tainted, as her sensitivity to the souls of others was not entirely dampened by her prison. by a stroke of uncharacteristic good fortune, she sensed the presence of not just one of her lilim, but her shard, who had somehow managed to survive their previous encounter. she coaxed her other self into freeing her, then immediately attempted to consume her. that would be the end of her luck, though, as languishing in a coffin for half a decade did not do her well, by any means. the shard and her allies subdued lilith, and as such she chose to flee; if she must die, she must do so in the safety of the thirteenth, wherein her soul would be denied rest.upon her return to her domain, she was delighted to find that algol did an excellent job maintaining order in her absence. in the grand scheme, five years really was not all that long, but she was worried about the situation- and the safety of her algol- nonetheless. the preserved order meant that she could resume her work all the same- though, this shard of hers would prove more troublesome than any before her. the shard, going by iviani, had honed potent black magic of her own, and traveled with allies both numerous and powerful. this included algol's own counterpart on the source, furthering her belief that the two are bound together by fate as sundered pieces of two ancients who were destined to be together. perhaps due to the source undergoing seven rejoinings, whereas lilith had only absorbed 5 of her shards, she finally began to find her powers... wanting. still determined not to sully the purity of her own soul, she further honed her spells, while allowing algol to grow stronger by consuming others' souls, as she had already done a fair amount of that. she figured this was a serviceable enough solution, as she could simply extract algol's soul from the others which she consumed when the time came. now, it was time to plot...upon learning that iviani had become acquainted with another lilim of hers, lilith devised a strategy seeking to prey upon their emotional vulnerability. she drove this other lilim, arya, into a frenzy using the voidsent blood which she contained, and led the lilim and her friends into a trap as they attempted to cure her of her ailment. she and algol challenged them in combat on their own terms, but even this was somehow not enough, and they were defeated. fearing for both her own life as well as algol's, lilith fled back to the void, taking one of the mortals- algol's shard, known as aihim- hostage. aihim managed to finish her off, but was left with no way back out of the void, and lilith safely regenerated. thereafter, she was able to subdue aihim, knowing that iviani was plenty familiar with- and terrified of- the void's corrosive influence, lilith was certain she would seek her out to attempt to reclaim her friend, and would offer algol in exchange.iviani played perfectly into her hand, failing to account for demons' abilities to regenerate in the void. once lilith pointed this out, she agreed to exchange the two hostages regardless, but only for something more. she sought to enter a pact with iviani, one which cost a fraction- two ninths, to be precise, as that was enough to make lilith's soul denser than iviani's- of the mortal's soul as well as the promise to claim the rest of it the moment she perishes, in exchange for never again threatening either her or her friends' safety. despite the protesting allies, iviani agreed to the pact. the two shook hands, and aether violently erupted from iviani's arm, flowing into lilith. the tensity of the situation and iviani's phobia of the void, as well as concern for aihim's safety, led to the pact being uniquely beneficial to lilith. rather than being permanently bound to iviani, lilith was able to remain in the void, though her soul would be called to iviani across the rift whenever she was called upon by her. now all that was left was to wait for this direly self-destructive witch to get herself killed- then lilith would only have one shard left to reclaim- the first's.

this page is still being worked on and looks extremely jank on mobile. sorry.

aihime oronir

wife

when the two first met, iviani thought that ai was absolutely pathetic. once she got to know her, she found that they had a surprising amount in common. she helped aihime learn to stand up for herself and be more independent, while ai helped iviani feel like she belonged, as well as get over some long standing guilt.iviani was eternally bonded to aihime and s'utekh on the 21st Sun of the Second Umbral Moon.

s'utekh

wife

iviani fucking hated s'utekh at first. some smug, blind mage following her around, doing just about everything in her power to piss her off. after learning some about s'utekh's past, iviani grew more friendly with her. late into a realm reborn, s'utekh asked her out. the two have been together since... mostly.iviani spent several years of her free time trying to restore s'utekh's sight. she eventually found a solution.iviani was eternally bonded to s'utekh and aihime on the 21st Sun of the Second Umbral Moon.

gin'zah yuuleh

oh god they're in-laws

iviani initially held almost nothing but resentment toward gin'zah. someone so... pure of heart and faithful in the kindness of people would surely never understand someone like her... she would eventually stop snapping at his outstretched hand, and gets along well with him now.... gin'zah's mother considers iviani one of hers. their relationship isn't unlike that of siblings...

laurette aveline

hoe

omg what if we both committed matricide and we were both girls and/or girl-adjacent :flushed:

elio se'razade

demii kagon

tgirl swag

one of iviani's earliest... acquaintances that she met in eorzea, around only age 16 at the time. she clocked demii as someone like her, who wanted to be a girl rather than the boys they were born as, and offered to share some of her homebrew hormones. demii accepted.

esther mihgo

childhood best friend

192.168.1.10--esther was one of iviani's childhood friends. she didn't know her by her current name. thankfully, esther didn't recognize her for a while, and would be accepting of her new identity. if just a bit uncomfortable with her... dubious tendencies. they get along well.

fun facts!!! very fun!!!

- sometimes people shorten her name to just ivi. she doesn't mind.- she's an alchemist, and synthesizes her hormone replacement therapy. she is willing to offer this service to others.- this bitch is autistic- her legs were corrupted from when she was a child. her arm, however, was hurt in stormblood. she made a pact with a voidsent under pressure and while in the void. in exchange for her friend's safety, she surrendered a portion of her aether.- her soul has very thin aether right over her heart. that's just always been there. she was injured shortly after arriving in eorzea, then had a vision of hydaelyn. when she awoke, her heart wasn't beating, and it hasn't since. her blessing is what keeps her upright.- she was given the title "the heartless" by the padjal, both as a literal observation of the thin bit of her soul, and in reference to her lack of empathy.- she plays a sort of mix between dark knight and warrior. this is because the two function similarly. she's not exceptionally durable, though.- her father is a raen. however, her only au ra trait is a very, very small pair of horns, usually completely covered by her hair.- she smokes the devil's lettuce- beginning of shadowbringers spoiler. iviani does not get summoned to the first, but several of her friends do. she creates a doll-like copy of herself and instructs a friend to bring it across the rift and then summon her into it, not unlike a method of voidsent summoning. (that's why there's images of her with doll joints, if you were wondering.)- in endwalker, iviani meets her mother again, and learns that she is a voidsent. to her knowledge, she didn't get any cool powers from being a half voidsent. lame.- after endwalker, she has a false left eye. additionally, she lost the majority of her left arm. as her appearance in game does not reflect this, i don't expect it to be acknowledged in game, though i am not opposed.

background

iviani korika is a thavnarian miqo'te woman. as a child, she was very quiet and didn't really do anything without being told to, and only spoke when spoken to. her parents were merchants, but preferred to travel without her. they'd leave her with the alchemists of the great work, who cared for her greatly. she had three friends, though they were all older than her by a considerable amount. particularly, one of those friends was an adult man, named dusk. he would teach her thaumaturgy. she thought it was fun.during one of the instances in which when her parents were away, iviani was tricked by dusk, who turned out to be a voidsent using a dead man as a vessel, and he dragged her into the void. a powerful voidsent, lilith, to whom dusk was subservient, then attempted to consume her. she fell unconscious as lilith absorbed her aether. dusk experienced a sudden change of heart, scooped iviani up, and escaped back to the source. he dumped her into the alchemists' care, then fled. iviani's legs were partly absorbed, and further damaged by the corruptive nature of the void, causing them to crystallize. when her parents returned and learned of what happened to her, they scolded the alchemists for not watching over her well enough, and took her with them on their next trip to eorzea.while in ul'dah, she was introduced to their alchemists, and they were impressed by her knowledge for her age. she told them some bits about thavnarian alchemy, and in exchange they taught her some basic thaumaturgy, which she expressed interest in. she didn't mention that she was already taught a lot of this. her parents encouraged them to teach her more, and they were impressed by how quickly she picked it up. the time came to leave ul'dah, and they made for gridania. iviani tried to entertain with her thaumaturgy, and the gridanian locals were a lot less amused by it than the ul'dahns. she caused a small commotion, and one of the padjals - e-sumi yan - sensed that she was void-touched. he directed the crowd to disperse, and politely informed iviani and her parents that they should probably leave. while they were making preparations to leave the shroud, they were attacked, and iviani was abandoned by her parents, injured, and fell unconscious.she awoke in the care of pawah mujuuk, leader of a gang of poachers in the shroud. she was questioned, but iviani remained completely silent, not telling her even something so simple as her name. pawah explained to the mute miqo'te that she's not a charity, and said she'd keep her warm and fed if she proved herself useful, and taught her how to hunt. iviani pleasantly surprised her by using thaumaturgy to hunt extremely effectively. she lived with the poachers for about a year, but once they found out she was void-touched, they disowned her too.having learned to hunt, she fended for herself for several years. she developed a strong hatred for the shroud and everyone in it. having been branded as some kind of demon or witch repeatedly wasnt great for the psyche. when the calamity struck, she was mad that only the western shroud was wiped off the map. she'd give a lot to see gridania burn- even setting fire to their woods sometimes. watching the fire consume the foliage was cathartic, and it was easy to escape the padjals who came to put the fires out, since they were more worried about stopping the fires themselves.her echo manifests in an ability to both see and feel souls, though focus is required to see them. she associates everyone with the color of their soul. the feeling of souls is difficult to describe and varies quite a lot from person to person. she can essentially sense people's presences, which makes her very difficult to sneak up on. she can tell if someone's been possessed as well, since everyone's souls have unique properties. her echo visions are the less common manifestation, showing her the future rather than pasts. she often has prophetic dreams, and they're not usually pleasant. she avoids sleep because of this.
